The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner is a great book! It is written with simple but exquisite detail and makes for an easy but addicting read. I really like how the author describes all of the customs and traditions that the Afghan culture shares and how they integrate them into their everyday life. It is a side of Afghanistan that I didn't know existed and makes me wonder what it will be like once all of the fighting and terrorism is over. My favorite character is Amir. I like how he is always thinking about his feelings but he never tells anyone about them; he just keeps them locked up inside and lets them tear him apart. In a way I am kind of like that sometimes and it makes me wonder if I could end up as desperate as Amir someday. What I don't like about Amir is how he doesn't stand up for himself or others. He needs to learn to fight and stand up for what he believes in because that is the only way he will be able to succeed in life. The Kite Runner can be very disturbing and horrifying at times but I am excited to see what lies ahead.
